John (300m) > Sept 30: Magic Mushrooms
I caught these on my walk yesterday afternoon. the day was overcast and cloudy setting the mood for the shot. I liked they way these looked and took a few shots. Tp capture this I laid down in the grass with the camera and snapped a few trying to set the depth of field and the mood. I liked this shot and I liked the B&W conversion for the mood it sets. The shrooms look like alien life dome somewhat
John (300m) > Sept 29: Curiosity
I did my usual walk at lunchtime today caught some late flower and this little bird running through the flower bed. I took several shots but this one caught my eye as I really liked the look on his/her face in this shot. This shot was done in Lightroom with very little adjustment. Have a great day everyone

Thanks to Gail for the idenity of this mocking bird!
John (300m) > Sept 28: Fall Colors after the rain
It was a slow day spent working around the house this afternoon doing chores and such. With the off and on rain I did not see much to photograph. I was looking out the back window when I saw the rain trough the trees and the sun peeking through. I was intrigued and got my camera. I took a few shots, but the light was low so I grabbed my 70-200 and took a group at f/2.8 I really liked this shot with the clear picture and the water. One leave with the red-yellow of fall and the other a green of summer. Have a great day I put a few others up in the Fall Colors directory. Fall Colors It the first 3 shots. All the shots were hand held as was this one.
John (300m) > Sept 27: Artistic Impressions
I saw this group of flowers yesterday still in bloom so I took some shots. I like this single shot as it has some nice blur and lent itself to an artistic feel I decided to try something I have never done before for this shot. I have never done an artistic impression shot so I gave this whirl a few different ways till I found what I liked. Enjoy the shot and the remainder of the weekend.
John (300m) > Sept 26: Color in the rain
I took my car into service yesterday morning so I decided to take my wife to breakfast after we dropped my car off. I took a few shots at the dealership and some gong down the road as my wife drove. I spied this shot on the way in and took a bunch available light but they were not very good as I had camera shake. Lowest ISO on this one is 400 and usable is 200. I used 100 and the flash to capture this shot. I really liked the way the colors and the light hit the leaves in this shot. In lightroom I added +5 black and +10 Clarity
Have a good weekend everyone
John (300m) > Sept 25 Available light Panoramic
I had another day when I was busy all day and with the rain I got no chance to take any pictures so I reached back for this picture. I took this shot one evening off the balcony of the place we were staying in Kitty Hawk (OBX). This is a 4 shot panoramic with a 3 minute exposure. Shot with night WB and manual mode using the MC-36 timer and the RRS brackets. The shot was OK in color but really interesting in B&W. I liked the movement of the clouds in the shot and the blurring you see from the movement. The line in the foreground is the path for the golf course behind us.
John (300m) > Sept 24: Working Class Ducks
I did not get a chance to walk again at lunch and I was a bit desperate for a shot. I saw this glass paperweight that one of the ladies in my office had. I liked it and she gave me permission to shoot this. I did and when I returned the paperweight to her cabinet I saw these ducks on her desk and thought they were cute and took a few shots. I could not resist the construction ducks as the shot appealed to me. I tried this black & white conversion and liked the results. To add a chuckle the writing on the poster in the back says "Spearhead Attack", Ducks on the attack.
Thanks to everyone for all the comments on my office panoramic shot.
John (300m) > Sept 23: View of my office
I was inspired after seeing Lesley's, Dave's and Bill's "view from my chair" and thought what I cold do along that line. As I spent most of today working including through lunch I did not get a chance to take any shots for the POD till I got home. I started thinking about the shot on the way home and decided to try a pano. I did a 5 shot pano and then this 25 shot pano of my office area. I put the tripod in the center and mounted up my pano setup and fired up 25 shots at 24 mm to make this setup. It took PS 45 min to make this pano it was so big. Original size was 563M; 104W by 16H I reduced this a lot to make it fit.
John (300m) > Sept 22: Water Colors
I captured this shot first thing in the morning. I had been at work about 1.5 hrs when I went out to close the outside doors as the air was working again. (Yes we still have out AC on) It was ~ 7:30 and time for the sun to come up but the heavy clouds were not letting us see the sunrise. However the sky was really blue and looked cool so I ventured down to my car and got the camera and snapped a few shots. This was taken off the second floor balcony where I work. I cropped out the parking lot as that was a bit boring in the shot. I could not frame the shot without parking lot as this balcony sits over the lot. It was either parking lot or concrete pillars so I opted for lot that I could remove. I drove the blacks to +10 in LR to give me the silhouette effect I was looking for at the bottom and went into Photoshop and added a film effect to get this look. I used the Kodachrome 64 effect and it drove the saturation of the blue really deep to what I would term a watercolors – painted look. I liked the shot so you get to see this as my POD. The edge effect is something I learned from a Dave cross lesson last night and I wanted to give a try. Done in Photoshop with a set of masks.

This is the contender shot I did for today when I was talking to Bill Pador on the phone at lunch. Reflections off a table Table Reflections
Have a nice day
